Millard & Lancaster is owned and run by Stacey Millard and Gareth Lancaster Williams.
Stacey Millard is an award winning retailer who has successfully developed several businesses where the focus has been on excellent customer care and an exceptional quality retail experience. He is also passionate about historic buildings, having been involved in the restoration of a number of interesting listed properties.
Gareth Williams graduated with first class honours in the History of Art from the University in Manchester and, after a spell in Sotheby’s Bond Street, returned to the northern city where he went on to gain a Masters degree in the History of Art. His career has included work for the National Trust, private charitable organisations, private historic houses and a long association with the auction world. For Phillips, he served as Shropshire representative for several years before being headhunted by Sotheby’s for whom he was a Director for Wales and the North West for five years. During this time he brought many outstanding collections to auction, including the James Watt collection, much of which was acquired by Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and he was a key figure in the team that brought the Leverhulme Collection to auction in 2001. An expert in English fine and vernacular furniture and in English paintings, Gareth is a well regarded authority on the English country house, its architecture and decoration. He has lectured extensively on the subject to UK and overseas audiences and written about houses and their architects in numerous guide books, exhibition catalogues and articles in publications such as Apollo Magazine. He is currently working on a two volume history of Shropshire country houses for the publishers Phillimore. Besides many regional country houses, Gareth has worked in an advisory capacity for many nationally known historic houses such as Blenheim Palace, Lyme Park, Dunham Massey and Nostell Priory. He is a regional committee member of the Historic Houses Association, the Shropshire committee of the Art Fund and also sits on the Academic & Curatorial Committee of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust.
A highly approachable combined passion for art, architecture, good design and personal customer care stands at the core of what Millard & Lancaster is focused upon.
